EU countries agreed to extend temporary protection for people displaced from Ukraine until 4 March 2027. The measure gives continuity to people who have been living, studying or working under the collective protection framework.
Temporary protection is different from an individual asylum decision. It provides a common framework, while the everyday details of registration, documents and services are managed in the country where a person lives.
What people should check
People should review the information published by their local authority and keep identity, address and work or study records up to date where required. A general extension does not automatically resolve a separate family, employment or residence issue.
This overview is not individual legal advice. Anyone with a live case should use the relevant national authority or qualified adviser.
